1810 - Bussaco Campaign

This Historical campaign is played on a map of the Mondego River, Portugal. After the victory at Wagram against the Austrians, Napoleon sent out Marshal Massena with a 3 Corps Army of Portugal to Lisbon to finally kick the British out of the Peninsula. The Campaign starts after the fall of Cuidad Rodriguez to the French army. Wellington is defending the Mondego valley & must keep the French from reaching Lisbon. The French will have to capture Coimbra & Pombal to clear the road to the Portuguese capital.

The french player commands a 3 Corps Army, 6th Corps commanded by Marshal Michel Ney, 8th Corps commanded by General Andoche Junot, Duke of Abrantes and 2nd Corps commanded by General Jean-Louis Reynier, totalling just under 70.000

The british are outnumbered & their army consists partly of yet untested portuguese troops. The army totals just under 62.000 & includes some guards units and Craufurds Light Division. They are on the defensive however, so can pick the ground on which to fight. Hold out for 45 days & the Lines of Torres Vedras will be sufficiently readied to stand a French siege.
